Still on Pua`a Nui ridge, it's getting steeper.

We reached the end of the ridge after an hour and a half (from the parking area). We usually take a 5 minute break here and have something to snack on. So this has become know as the "Snack Spot", elevation about 2000'. If you are good w/numbers picture this. From Jury's Tree elevation 1400' to the Snack Spot elevation 2000' the horizontal distance is 0.06 miles. I come up with something like this. We climbed 600' but the horizontal distance covered is only 310'. Just about the same time for the past three times to this point. Anyone good at math want to check these figures and this drawing?

Perhaps I should explain that the Star Trek Trail first goes up Pua`a Nui Ridge and then goes into a valley yet to be named. The valley leads to the Wai`anae Summit, or so we think. In this picture we have entered the valley. There it gets even steeper. Notice anything strange on Dan's back???
