Dan and I are determined to finish this trail and so went back again. We are also planning a bigger adventure on Sunday Sept. 2nd w/a few other guys to perhaps finally complete the trail. Dan again picked me up at my house around 8 a.m. We drove up to the forestry gate and soon were on our way. We made fair time, well I made fair time as Dan was at Jury's Tree a few minutes before me. I arrived after a 52 minute hike. We only covered 1 mile from the gate (600') to Jury's tree (1400'). There we took a 5 minute break before heading up Pua`a Nui Ridge. Here is a pic of Dan as we worked our way up the ridge. At the low end the ridge has a slight slope as seen here. After about 10 to 15 minutes it gets steeper and steeper. On average I'd say it has a 30 degree slope.

I've show this before. I call it Pohaku Nui #3 as it is the 3rd really large stone/boulder I've noticed in the valley.
