The other bank was covered with Hau trees which grow in a great tangle along streams. If you ever saw the Hau flower you would know that how is a hibiscus, Hibiscus tiliaceus. It has a yellow flower that changes to an orange/red color before it falls off. The wood is light and strong and was used for outriggers on canoes.
