One hour and 20 minutes (10:40 a.m.) after beginning the hike we reached the point where we would leave the Waiau Ridge and turn down on the Halapepenui Trail. The Halapepenui Trail comes in on an angle right after the main ridge trail narrows and comes down from a pu`u. It could be over looked but there are lots of yellow ribbons marking this trail. This picture is taken along the Halapepenui Trail looking back at the Waiau Ridge and one of the puus we had to climb.
