I headed up the paved road and at it's end I cut into the bush on the left. Shortly I ran into the first blow down. To big to clear alone, so I cut a path along side it which you can see in the next two photos.
Then came the second blow down. I began clearing it too, but soon discovered the big log on the left was sort of loose and I was afraid it might come down on me, so I quit. Will come back w/some rope so I can pull it down, but from a safe distance.
Around 11 a.m. I reached the area I planned to work over w/my pick. Here is the before w/the after following.
During my lunch break this little guy came to visit me. No idea what it is.
On the way back I climbed a pig trail to the top of the ridge on one side of the stream bed. There I found this rough wall creating a terrace. This is a panorama and at the right side of the picture the wall makes a sharp 90* turn and continues another 60 feet or so. At the far end I found an Ahu about 8 x 12 feet and about 2 feet high. That's it in the second picture. I quickly got out of there .
Early in the morning I spotted a stone wall high above the trail. I took this panorama and planned to check it out on the way back.
This is the same wall as above but taken from along side it. A nice sized terrace was created behind it. Way to high above the stream for taro growing.
On the way back to the stream trail I noticed this rock sticking out of the hill side. Wow, looks like a pigs head.
I made a short video covering the work today. I didn't work the whole 1 .5 hours straight. Took a lunch break after the first hour.
