Hike #72
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today I joined the HTMC trail clearing crew for the final TM on the trail known as Manoa Middle. The "club" use to hike this years ago and then for some reason stopped. Early this year some "young bloods" decided to clear the ridge known as Manoa Middle. I think it took something like 11 days to clear. Each time it took longer and longer to reach the spot they stopped the time before. I believe it was Pete, Duc and August. If I missed someone let me know.
Next month the club will hike this wonderful loop trail for the first time in many years. Today we divided into two crews, the largest would go Clock wise and tackle the Uluhe on Manoa Middle. Some of them would upon reaching the KST continue and come down the route of the CCW crew. I was w/this CCW crew. We really had no work until reaching the KST about 3 hour of going up and up and up. Around 11 a.m. we reached the KST and began working left toward Manoa Middle. It took about 1 hour and 30 minutes to finish the KST section. There we headed down the now beautifully cleared Manoa Middle Ridge.
Below is a map w/remarks on the CCW distances.
