Hike #8 for the year

===========================================================================================================

For over a year we have been talking of going up Hobb's Ridge and spending the night there.  Then in the morning we'd get up and head up and over Kalena, go down to Star Trek and then climb back down into Wai`anae Valley.  Back in Sept of last year we attempted to pack 2 tents up the ridge.  We go about 2/3 of the way up when it began to rain and we were forced to leave our tents tied to trees and head back down for safety.

In October of 2010 I fractured a toe and could not hike for a month.  Then the rainy season set in and we couldn't complete the task of summiting w/the tents.  Well today the weather looked good and off we went.  This time it was just Dan, Dave and me.  Well we got about 3/4 of the way this time when the rains threatened again.  There were only about 200 vertical feet to go, but one doesn't want to get caught on this narrow steep ridge in heavy rain.  So again the tents were tied down and we retreated to safer elevations.

This short video tells part of the story
