I took me 3 hours to hike the five miles to the land slide. I arrive around 11 a.m. and left about 12 noon to head back down off the mountain. Here is a parting view of the last 4 miles of trail to the summit.

Just before stopping for lunch I took this panorama of a spreading Ohia Lehua tree whose top blew off in a storm years ago. Behind it you can see another w/out a top. That one is quite dead..
I rested here about 45 minutes eating my lunch alone and just enjoying the beauty and sounds of the forest. About 1 p.m. Bill came down from higher on the trail and we talked and walked together back to the cars. It took us jus a bit over 3 hours to return to civilization.
