This is a native Lobelia. There were dozens present today, but it is WAY (read that hike planners) to early in the year to see them in flower.
While walking across the Bog I shot one more VIDEO. The view right after coming out of the Bog is the FAA installation. It is from here that track is kept of ALL planes landing and taking off from O`ahu. Since 9/11 it is maintained by the Air National Guard. VIDEO There is a one lane road coming up from the North Shore.
Around 12:40 we reached the summit and walked over to the side were one could view the North Shore. The surf was very big in the 15-20 foot range. This is a panorama so scroll.
