According to Sterns and the USGS maps tunnels 3 and 4 were in a gulch just past Tunnel #19.  We headed up the gulch and soon came upon a great pile of rocks which told us the tunnels could not be far.  In fact it seems that Tunnel #3 is totally hidden by silt and boulders.  Tunnel #4 was almost the same.  Gene in the lead spotted a small opening in the right bank of the stream.  You can see him bending down looking at it.

He began moving the small rocks that almost hid the tunnel from view.

This is a close up of the opening.  Once upon a time when it was cared for there would have been at least 4 foot less rocks in front of it.
