In time the trail and a tributary stream meet. There was once a dam there to divert water into the ditch system. There is also a long tunnel that you can walk into on your left once you cross the stream and begin climbing up the ridge. But that is another hike so I won't say any more about it. Here in this picture you can see the entrance to the tunnel/ditch system.

After crossing the stream the trail climbs to a ridge top thru a forest of eucalyptus trees. On top of the ridge is a shelter built by the State and one of our local Boy Scout troops. For some reason after re-roofing the shelter the old roof was left laying around.
