The pipeline we followed up from Kanewai Dam #2 comes from this tunnel. It is the old plantation tunnel #19. Some years ago a bunch of students from Wai`anae High School were walking past the tunnel and saw a bunch of workers trying to shore up the tunnel entrance. The workers were Samoans and since then they called tunnel #19, the Samoan Tunnel. The tunnel is sealed a few feet inside to keep the water pure. I'm probably drinking some of the water from this tunnel when at home.
