Still standing on the roots I looked down and across the valley toward Makaha and took this panorama.

And here is one of Danny coming down from our highest spot for the day.  You can see how steep and narrow our path was.

We scrambled down, often sitting on our butts for safety reasons.  On the way up we left few markers.  On the way down we did a good job of clearing and also tied a whole lot of white ribbons to mark the trail.  When we reached the spot where I had my Power Bar break we had lunch.

After a short lunch break of perhaps 20 minutes we continued down, clearing brush and hanging ribbons.  It took us about 3 1/2 hours to today's top out spot.  I believe next time w/a clear trail we can do in 3 hours or less.  We will go back in about 2 weeks and try to finish the climb to the summit.  Total time for today's hike was 7 hours and about 3.5 miles in length.  It wasn't the length of the hike it was the elevation gain going from 600' to 2400' that took time.
