We kept climbing above the bench. As we got higher the ground became muddy as it had rained up here the past few nights. Danny was having trouble w/his footing and decided to quit climbing around 2650'. With my steel cleated baseball shoes I had no problems and decided to keep going alone for a while. It was pretty steep perhaps 30-40 degrees at times. There was lots of small plant life to hold on to and my footing seemed solid. Around 2750' I came to a level section about 30' long and say 3'wide. There was quite a drop on both sides. There was also just about nothing to hold on to. I crossed it anyway, and continued to climb for about another 50' of elevation. Then I came to a steep section perhaps at a 45 degree angle and really overgrown with brush. Here I called it quits. To dangerous to go higher alone. On the way down I harvested some beautiful orchid flowers. The plants were growing along the edge of the narrow level section.
Danny took a picture of me coming down to where he stopped w/the flowers in my mouth. Was he trying to embarrass me?
