Just before I took off up that scary slope I looked right at Pu`u Kalena (3400).
After the three of us were under the Christmas Berry tree we took a short rest to calm our nerves. Above the tree was more of the steep sloping ridge and lots of vegetation to bust through. This was not as scary as the ridge seemed to be a bit wider. While Dan and Michael were above me hacking away at the brush I took this panorama from about 3000' of elevation. The valley over the low ridge is Lualualei and the one right below is Wai`anae. My house is somewhere down there.
