Any ways lets get back to today's hike. Under the shade of a large Silk Oak tree I changed from my "road" shoes to my steel cleated "hiking" boots. In reality they are baseball shoes and very hard on your feet walking on a paved or gravel road. Right in the center of the photo is the Silk Oak tree and the begining of the Wai`anae Ramble trail.

We followed the Ramble Trail for about 5 minutes and then took a left turn onto the Water Works Trail. About 15 minutes later we were at Kaniwai Dam #2 where we took a hydration break from a water faucet in that pipe you can see above the dam. It is pure clean water coming out of a sealed tunnel. It is the same water that I drink at home.
