Turning 180 degrees from the last photo looking down the valley to the ocean. The plants all around us are the Strawberry Guava also known as Waiawi 'ula'ula. 'Ula'ula means red in Hawaiian. Environmentalist hate this shrub as it takes over the area it is growing in and spreads. Hunter and some hikers love it as the Waiawi tastes very good and is a "winner" on a hot day.

If you look very carefully at the center of this picture you will see a spider web shinning in the sunlight. This is a web from a native Hawaiian spider and is identified as one as the Hawaiian spiders make horizontal webs, while the introduces species make vertical webs.
