Back in March of 2007 my hiking/bowling buddy Bal passed away on this hike. Later that year I raised an American flag near that spot. Over the years I've had trouble w/the securing of the pole to the ground. On the way down today we'd do some more work on it.
The flag is at the spot where the rescue helicopter came to pick up his body.
The upper pole came loose from the one in the ground and was temporarily secured by some passing stranger some months ago. Thanks buddy.
