We arrived at the forestry gate around 8:30 and were walking about 5 minutes later. It took us 38 minutes to reach the end of the road and were supprised to see that the shelter built by Boy Scouts some years ago has a new paint job and a NEW roof. Nice.
We then proceded up Ka Ala Pau ridge to the beginning of the Wai`anae Ramble Trail which we reached about 5 minutes later. As we walked along the trail we notice that there were many pig tracks in the mud, but no human tracks. I wonder why the pig hunters are not using this trail.
The vegetation along the trail is quite varied from natives to exotics. This interesting mushroom caught Dan's eye and he took a picture of it, as did I, mine is the close up.
