Most of the trail now is in Eucalyptus forests. In time you come to this open area with mango trees, it was 12:47 when we arrived. We had been going for approx. 3 hours and 20 minutes. There is a state trail sign showing the way down into Waimano Valley. Do not take this. There is a road that begins or end here depending on which way you are walking. Follow the road.

I you go to the Waimano side of the clearing and look mauka you see the below view. For those who have hiked on the Waimano Ditch Trail, remember the shelter with picnic tables? The ridge (bump) right in the middle of the picture is the ridge. The shelter is on the back side of the bump.
