At first the trail goes down thru strawberry guava and then we came to an open spot by some power lines.
Back before I even thought of making web pages we were hiking. This page is being created in August of 2002 from pictures taken with a film camera and scanned. My memory of everything about this hike is light. This should be a short report.
Kalauao Valley is to the left of Aiea Ridge as you look mauka. The trail head is off the Aiea Loop Trail. If you drive to the highest point in the park and begin the loop trail in a clockwise direction you will see a wide trail to your left after walking about 10 minutes. This is the Kalauao Trail. This next picture was taken just about that point.
