P. elegans is endemic to Australia, to rain forests along the coast of Queensland. It is a single stemmed palm with a narrow trunk of perhaps only 4 inches in diameter. The trunk may reach heights of 40 feet in habitat.
This is another that I've had in a pot for years and years. So long that I don't know where it came from. In the fall of 2005 I pretty much finished clearing an area in the back that I call the "back terrace" and that is where I planted it.
A little over 2 years later it's much bigger and O so Happy :-)
