Licuala spinosa has a broad base it calls home. It can be found naturally in many parts of South East Asia. It is a clumping specie whose trunks can reach heights of 15 feet.
This is another that I can't recall where it came from or when I planted it. All I know for sure is it is happy and growing quite well. The only problem is ME clearing the weedy grass that is always growing around it. I'd take a guess and say it was planted around 2000.
Here it is in July of 2005 almost lost in the grass.
This shot shows about 2 1/2 years of growth to February of 2008 and still lost in the grass.
