Carpentaria acuminata

This palm is only found naturally in the Northern Territory of Australia.  That makes it an "endemic" palm.  It loves water and grows along rivers and streams.  Here I have it planted high on a terrace and it is growing slowly.  It can grow up with a 50 foot tall trunk that has a diameter of approx. 8 inches.

I placed it in the ground in October of 2005 from a 1 gallon pot.  It only had two strap leaves.  Here you can see one  and two years growth in the two pictures taken in November of 2006 and February of 2008.
