This palm is native to western and northern Madagascar where it usually grows in grass lands.
The trunk can grow to 18 inches in diameter and over 60 feet in hight. It loves full sun and good drainage. There are two forms one w/green leaves and the other w/silver to gray leaves. Mine is one of the silver palms
It was grown from seed but I'm not sure when I started it. It went in the ground out of a 5 gallon container along with the body of one of my poor old dogs who didn't live anywhere as long as I hope the palm will. I hope "Aussie" is providing to be a good watch dog for this palm. So far it is growing very nicely
