This weekend I made a trip all the way to the windward side of O`ahu to a nursery that specializes in fruit trees. There I picked up two avocado trees in 5 gallon pots for $40 each. On the way home I stopped at Ko`olau Farms a garden shop in Kailua. From time to time I've found some good deals there. I was in luck. There were some nice palms at a decent price that still had tags from Floribunda. I only had room in the car for one more and bought one Pinanga disticha in a 3 gallon pot for $27. I went back on Sunday and bought two more there a Pinanga "blue seed" ($27)and a Euterpe oleracea "black crown shaft" ($17). Both were in 5 gallon pots. Then I went on to their Kane`ohe store and found a Marojejya darianii in a 1 gallon pot for $20 and brought it home also.
Today I went to work with pick shovel and rack and finished the bed on the right of the stream. There I planted the Euterpe. It's way in the back but not as close to the Keawe log as it looks. The joining of the two photos to make the panorama makes it look right by the log. It is about 4 feet away.
The device with the hoses connected is a nine volt powered timer. I water from this station twice a week for one hour each time. I comes on at 11 p.m. Monday and Thursday nights.
