The upper terrace is just about complete. All the rocks came from just above the terrace. The biggest ones I sort of rolled and slid down in to place. The larger rocks of this upper terrace must was at least 150 pounds. I was lucky none of them got away and rolled down to far to be of use. The terrace completed on the last page now has one tree planted on it. It's a Cordia subcordata, one of the "Canoe" plants brought by the Ancient Hawaiians to these islands. It is also believed by some to have gotten here "on it's own", making it a "native" also. In time it will grow to a nice shade tree.
Dropping down one terrace you can see both rock retaining walls a bit better. The upper wall still has some work to be done. Gotta find more rocks that I can move. The pictures on this page were taken on August 9th, 2005.
