Arenga porphyrocarpa

This palm is native to both Java and Sumatra.  It is a small clumping palm of perhaps 6' high and wide.  It can take either partial shade or full sun.  This one is in a pretty shady spot and is growing quite well.

The first photo is from November of 2001 when it was first planted in the ground.

Three and 1/2 years later it looked like this (July 2005)

And today in February of 2008 it has grown in to this beauty.
