Arenga engleri

This palm is native to the Ryukyu Islands of Japan and to Taiwan where it grows in moist forests.  It does not seem to happy here in dry Wai`anae as you'll see from the blow pictures.

It is a medium sized clustering palm.  Trunks are know to grow to 10 feet in height w/clump widths of 15 feet.

The first picture was taken after planting in October of 2005.  The second a year later.
