This palm is native to the Ryukyu Islands of Japan and to Taiwan where it grows in moist forests. It does not seem to happy here in dry Wai`anae as you'll see from the blow pictures.
It is a medium sized clustering palm. Trunks are know to grow to 10 feet in height w/clump widths of 15 feet.
The first picture was taken after planting in October of 2005. The second a year later.
