Native to low mountainous rain forests of Indonesia. Funny but it's doing well here in dry Wai`anae. Some are solitary, but this one is beginning to clump. It was sold at Home Depot as "Sunshine Palm".
Trunks can reach up to 20 feet w/clumps as wide as 15 feet. The new leaf has a red new leaf which in time turns green. The crownshaft is a shade of red/orange.
The first picture was taken in November of 2005 still in its pot. The second, third, and fourth were taken a year later in the ground.
