Two Valleys

Wednesday January 16th, 2013

4th hike of 4 miles, total for the year = 18.2

Went exploring today in two valleys.  The first valley there was Chenay and her friend Lorene.  Then for the second valley it was just Chenay and me.  Not gonna have a lot of comments today, mostly just a lot of pictures of plants w/out names.  This had to have been one of the COLDEST days ever in Wai`anae.  Not sure where this weather station is but BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

We started by hiking into the Summer Palace of King Kamehameha III.

We then headed over to Luakaha Falls.  Location untold.....

Upper Luakaha Falls

Lower Luakaha Falls from the top

From the bottom

Some kind of land shell.

Some "girls" were meant to climb.

Next stop Lyon Arboretum in Manoa Valley.

That's Manoa Falls across the valley.

There is this grove of Roystonea oleracea, the Caribbean Royal Palm.  They are VERY TALL.

Many years ago in Manoa there was a bird park with hundreds of different kinds of birds.  When it closed down some of the birds managed to get out into the wild.  There are a number of Cockatoo's living in the arboretum.

That's it folks, hope you enjoyed the photos.  Something different for a change.
