At 12 noon we reached the first dike at an elevation of about 2000'.  We started walking at approx 100', and it took us 3.5 ours to gain 1900'.  The weather ahead was beginning to look nasty and so we decided to have lunch and return to sea level.  Dave walked the first dike just for the heck of it.  Here he is on the dike.  Notice the second dike beyond him and the sheer wall on it's left side.  It goes straight down a few hundred feet.

We were almost back to the road when I took this.  It had rained on us lightly during our way down.  Not enough to soak us or turn the dirt to mud.
