Tiki Cross Over to Makaha

Wednesday February 3rd, 2010

Today would be a FIRST.  We have climbed from the Wai`anae Forest gate to  Tiki and back many times.  Alan and Gene pioneered a trail from the Makaha Towers gate to Tiki earlier this year.  Today would be the first time anyone we know about have gone from Wai`anae to Tiki and down to the Makaha Towers.  It was an eight mile trip that took eight hours as we were hauling along my 12" chain saw to clear "blow down" on the Wai`anae Side.  For reason we won't mention no clearing was done on the Makaha side.

The high peak on the left is know to HTMC members as "No Name Peak", and to CHASM members "Teddy Bear" peak.  Going down/right from Teddy Bear is a small peak w/huge boulders on it, just about in the middle of the picture.  This is Tiki.

At the end of the paved road we took off on the left into the tall grass.
