Today Dan, Joseph and I went up Kumaipo stream bed to move some sprouted avocado seedlings from the stream bed to the banks of the stream. On the way up the paved road we noticed an area that was cleared and the beginning of a fence going around it. After checking on this later I found that a university group will be planting some native dry land plants w/in the enclosure to see how they do.
After climbing higher on the road and dropping into Kumaipo stream bed we soon reached the avocado tree. We began to dig up seedlings that were in the stream bed and sure to be washed away after the first big winter rain. Here is one we bagged and would take home to later plant in another location.
