The dirt track ends at the first of many stream crossings.  The stream was dry all the way today.  Here we wander through a field of `Awapuhi, kuahivia ginger the Hawaiian's brought with them to the islands.

When "ripe" the flower "bulb" is full of sap that smells nice and was used as a shampoo by the Hawaiians.  It is sometimes called Shampoo Ginger.
