Wai`anae Water Works Hike

Saturday April 11th, 2009

You are probably tired of reading about the Wai`anae Water Works Trail as this is the 3rd report in just 3 weeks.  The first two were the clearing of the trail and this is the HTMC club hike.  This building was used to house the hydro-electric generators for the Wai`anae Sugar Plantation, one of the first plantations in Hawai`i to  have electricity.

Only 7 hikers showed up today.  This is the smallest hike I've ever lead for the club.  Perhaps the bad weather the past two days and the fact that tomorrow is the Konahuanui hike that led to the low turn out.  But what the heck.  We had a beautiful day w/high over cast clouds which would keep the heat down.  Here Richard N.  points out something to some of us.
