Jane, Stanka and I were planning to hike today w/the Solemates from Makapu`u to Kamiloiki and then down Kamiloiki to the Heiau. We left my house at 7:50 in the morning as it is a very long drive for this island. Just past Makakilo we wound up in a MAJOR traffic jam. It took us 45 minutes to go maybe 15 miles. As a result we knew we'd never make it to Makapu`u in time to join the group starting there. Instead we headed to the Heiau at the foot of Kamiloiki Ridge. We arrived there at 10:20 almost an hour after the group that started from this point. Here is a map showing the route up to the Lunch Spot overlooking the Windward Coast of O`ahu.

The trail starts just to the left of the Heiau and switchbacks to the ridge crest. There it is pretty much a straight shot along the crest to the summit.
