It was just Gene and I and after leaving the lower site we began walking into the valley. Here we found the foundation of the road on the map.
A few hundred yards into the valley the road crossed the stream and contoured along the ridge slowly gaining altitude. You can see to Gene's right how the ridge slope was cut to make the level road. Along his left side we found sections of a rock foundation for the low side of the road similar the one above.
