Today the water coming out of the pipe was an ugly brown. No one wanted a drink today.

A hundred yards or so above the dam we found the reason for the muddy water. The stream had eaten away the supports under the pipe and then a few pipe sections came apart. Here you can see the clean water pouring out of the up side of the pipe. The down side was laying in the stream and muddy stream water was running into the pipe and that is what we saw coming out of the faucet.

When we got back to civilization I called the BWS hot line to report the break. Two weeks later I saw a few BWS trucks along Wai`anae Valley Road and so I stopped to see if they knew about the broken pipe. They did not but thanked me for letting them know about it and the condition of the road.
