There is a bit of a trail on the left side of the canyon. One can only go so far before coming on a cliff that we can't climb. You can see that there is lots of vegetation here in the canyon. The steep walls shade it most of the day and so the little moisture that enters is not evaporated away in the hot Hawaiian Sun.
I did say the canyon was narrow, didn't I? :-) If you look closely you can see the Makaha Towers between the two canyon walls.
