One of the things I like about this hike is the numerous Wiliwili trees growing here. The Wiliwili is a the only native plant with thorns. It is also slowly dying due to an island wide infestation of a tiny wasp who's larva kill the growing buds of the tree.
This is the first canyon we would enter today. Dan and Gene have numbered them and this is No. 11. As we get closer to the canyons things begin to "green up".
