This panorama is again looking back where we came from. In the far distance are the Wai`anae Mountains. That skinny trunk to the left is from a King Palm. There are also stands of Royal Palm in the valley but I don't believe I have any pictures. Their trunks are much larger in diameter.
On the crest of the ridge at last (and not for to long) we discovered that the Australian Tea (Leptospermum laevigatum) has just about taken over the ridge top. It is a WEED here in the island and I believe it is on the invasive species list for the islands. It is also know as "Manuka" and by any name it is not a nice plant although I've seen it for sale at some garden shops.
