Around 9:50 a.m. we reached the end of the ridge (2100') where it butts up against the pali. This has become a spot to sit down and have a snack and or lunch break. We really made good time to get there, only 1 hour and 40 minutes from the gate. Of course this time we didn't have to work at clearing the trail. We just hiked. Here is a picture of Dan just as we began the next leg of our trip. Don't know why he looks so mean today.

From the eating spot we go to the left and enter the narrow valley that we hope will lead us to the Wai`anae Summit. Here is shot of the valley trail. It looks totally overgrown but there really is a trail of sorts. You should be able to see a white ribbon hanging from a branch in the middle of the picture.
