The troops gathered on the side of Kamehameha Highway at Punalu`u Beach Park. When everyone was there we were allowed to enter the valley which is still owned and operated by the Bishop Estate. We drove in a short distance and there left the "cars". Everyone then piled into the 4 x 4's be they SUV's or P/U trucks and headed out for the Trail head which is about one and one half miles deeper in the valley.
Around 8:45 we began our hike. This is the lower portion that needed little work. Someone is using this portion of the trail.
